Do you hear what I hear?

Yesterday I got to hear the heartbeat of our growing little bundle of joy. It was pretty exciting! The doctor used a Doppler and I was able to hear the heart beating away. I could have stayed there all day just listening. Now I'm even more excited to go back on the 18th and find out if this baby is a boy or a girl.
In related news, I'm still feeling great and hoping this lasts for the next six months! Although, to be honest, I'm not feeling so great in my clothes! Things are starting to feel a bit snug and a few things just aren't fitting at all. I guess it's all downhill in that category from here to March though. Oh, well.

Beginnings

Since we've learned of the wonderful news that we will be parents sometime around March 1st, things have been a little crazy (and, contrary to what Dave might say - it's not just me that's crazy). The hardest part of the last 12 weeks has been not yelling our news to the whole world. We did let our immediate family in on the news a few weeks ago, but not being able to talk openly about this exciting time was hard to say the least (and just to warn you - we'll probably make up for that time of not talking about it by doing A LOT of talking about it for the next...18 years or so :-).
We've been busy reading about what's going on in there (we were surprised to learn that its little heart started beating around week six and that at twelve weeks pretty much every organ is in place and working away). We've also been busy wondering what the little guy or gal will look like. Speaking of guy or gal, Dave is convinced it's a girl and I'm convinced it's a boy...what are you betting on?

Up next...I go to the doctor on August 30th to hear the heartbeat and discuss my blood test results and then on September 18th I go in for an ultrasound (Dave gets to come too...and if we're lucky we'll leave knowing the sex of our little fetus).

Alien Possum or Human Fetus?

Take a close look!
