Hiccup!

So, if you've ever been around me when I've had the hiccups you probably know that it isn't pretty. They are loud, painful, and hard to get rid of. Also, if I get them once...they basically continue to come and go for about 24 hours. Dave calls them the violent hiccups. If I ever get them during school hours the kids laugh and think it's just hilarious - and really, I can't blame them.
Anyway, I kept hearing that you can feel fetal hiccups and I was a tad worried. If she was anything like me I was in for some serious jolting. Well, I felt Fetus hiccuping for the first time two days ago. It wasn't too jolting, but just a rhythmic movement that lasted for a little while. Kinda cute really. She did manage to follow my hiccup pattern though and had them at least three more times in the following day.
She's been moving a lot really and it's fun to just sit and watch the show as she moves from side to side and kicks and punches. The freaky part is when she's close enough to the front of my tummy that you can actually feel her body through my belly!! Dave thinks it's very strange....and it's not even going on inside of him!

We head out tomorrow for Christmas with the family down in Templeton. We hope you all have a great holiday too! Hiccup!

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like...

well, Christmas yes, but also like we're almost ready for this baby to actually join us. This week Crystal came over with her truck and helped us pick up the baby furniture in San Bruno. We got it home and between Dave, Crystal, Gary, and Joe managed to get it all up to the baby's room and put together. I helped too actually!!! OK...I passed bolts and screws to Dave as he was putting the crib together, but it felt useful :-)

Today I may even get in her room and start putting some stuff away! I already have a ton of books (hey, I'm a teacher what do you expect?) and some cute little outfits (mostly thanks to my mom, Crystal, and my students).

And, another sign that Fetus is getting closer to joining us:

I keep thinking that how at this time next year we'll have a baby! I find myself constantly wondering what she'll look like (Will she get Dave's short legs, but my chicken walk? Will she get my high forehead and Dave's blonde hair to cover it up?) and also wondering what the heck she's doing right now (because let me tell you it feels like she's up to something).
Just two and a half months to go and here's to hoping it goes as smoothly as the first seven and a half!!!

Making Room for Baby Pt. 2

Well, you may remember from an earlier post that the baby's room was taking some time to get ready. Well, Dave and I managed to finally get it all cleaned out! Whew! Then it was time for the next step: painting. I have a beautiful picture of a carousel horse that my Great Grandma Hamilton painted that I really wanted to hang in the room, so with that as my inspiration I headed out to look for paint. The next night Dave and I chose three different colors and did color tests on the wall. The next day the reinforcements (Mom, John, Crystal, Liam, & Flynne) showed up to help get the whole room painted. Yes, everyone helped:

The somewhat final result:
Next step is to paint some stencils on the walls of bugs (our "theme") and get this thing furnished. It feels like we have so much done, but really there is so much more to do!!
