Night & Day

NIGHT:
Carina is cute even when we can't see her. How do we know? Our new video camera (aka Dave's new toy) takes still photos and has night vision. Check it out:
Almost better than nighttime cuteness...she's usually sleeping for one four hour chunck each night!

DAY:
What has our little cutie pie been up to during the day? Well, one new development is tears - real, sad tears. This week we had the first real tears and seeing those tears could just break your heart.

Carina had a real busy day yesterday - she met room 14. They were so excited to see her and me too. The class had a little shower for me that was so sweet. I go back to work April 23rd and just being there yesterday made me nervous. In a way it will be nice to have a little bit of my old life back for part of the day, but I do love my new life (and it takes a lot of time & energy!). I'm sure it will be an adjustment for me....and Carina. Luckily summer vacation will only be a couple months away.

Tomorrow Carina is in for quite a day. We're taking our first trip down to SLO to see the extended family and some close friends. They are all very excited to meet her.

I keep feeding her, so she keeps getting bigger. She's up to six pounds nine and a half ounces. She's starting to outgrow some of her preemie clothes.

Overall, her favorite activity though is working on getting Daddy wrapped tighter around her little finger. She's doing a pretty good job!

Warning: Extreme Cuteness Ahead!

Dave and I can't help but constantly wonder if our little Carina is in fact the cutest baby of all time. Some evidence...More evidence...
All of this energy spent pondering her cuteness wears out Daddy...And Mommy...We are definitely in love with our little lady! Although...she's not so little anymore. She weighed in at 5 lbs. 12 oz. yesterday and measures at 18 3/4 inches long. She continues to eat well and next week will be started on one bottle a day to get her used to it for when I return to work at the end of April.
She is starting to be more alert and even follows objects with her eyes sometimes. She makes lots of silly noises and loves to stretch. We give her some "tummy time" each day and she can turn her head from side to side and even pulls her legs up under herself. We can't wait to see what she can do next!

Between Naps...

Let me just start out by saying, as evidenced by the fact that I'm writing this in plain English, that I do understand what you people are saying. Generally, I just choose to ignore you.

As most of you who are reading this blog must know by now, the humans living in my house brought home this weird little thing about a month ago. Mostly, it doesn't bother me too much, but I must say, I'm kinda worried.

You see, the thing looks like a small human. (Of course I recognize that, I'm not stupid. Maya on the other paw...) Anyway, like I said, it doesn't bother me too much right now. Sure, every now and then it seems to make a lot of crazy noises that are even kinda loud. But, I'm pretty sure it can't get around on its own, so I don't have to worry about it pulling my tail or anything.

What concerns me is that it's getting bigger. Granted, it hasn't gotten much bigger yet, but it's making progress. And I've seen small humans that aren't quite this small. In fact, there is this one small human (maybe three feet tall or so) that comes to my house every now and then. Seriously, that thing annoys me. It runs around the house making lots of noise. It climbs on my couch (yeah, you heard me, that's my couch). Sometimes it tries to pet me with its grubby little hands. C'mon. Are you kidding me? Fortunately, it's too big to get under the bed, so I usually just go hang out there until it's gone.

Anyway, at the rate it's going, this thing that my humans brought home is growing at a rate such that it should be the same size as that other one in about three to four years. You're probably thinking that is a lot of time for a cat. Yeah, whatever. I live in the same universe that you do. Three years is three years. It ain't that long. And from what I can tell, this thing seems to have moved in.

Oh well, I guess I'll just start counting my remaining days of peace. And either way, at least I'll still have Maya to beat up on (although she's getting kinda slow these days).

And if that wasn't enough, my humans brought home a bag of "Weight Management" food today. Sheesh - insult to injury.

Bath Time

Carina continues to do well and continues to be super cute (of course!). She's even eating so well now that we don't have to do the finger feeding anymore. Yay! She's up to 5 lbs 6 oz! Dave thinks she's gained the last few ounces all in her head. Could be...she does have two super smart parents :-) Also, we got a stroller this weekend so Carina and I have been able to get out and go on some nice walks. It feels good to get out and about.

Her umbilical cord stump finally fell off so we were excited that we could give her a real bath. She was not as excited:
She wasn't even excited when she was finally done:
But, look how cute and clean she looks now:I think she'll come to love baths in time!
