The End of '07
Carina's first Christmas was a little hectic, but she seemed to enjoy it (well, she seemed to at least enjoy playing with the boxes and packing material that gifts came in :-)
We started out the 23rd with a get together with my mom's family. Carina was a good girl of course and loved the toy dog she got from Great Grandma. Then on Christmas Eve we visited my dad's family. Carina had started to get a little bit of a cold, but she was still in fairly good spirits.
Christmas morning we woke up and opened presents at my mom's. Carina liked all of her presents, but tried to wear the bowls from Aunt Mollie as hats...
Next, we drove to Lompoc to celebrate with Dave's parents. Carina was excited about her new shaker.
The day after Christmas we headed down to San Diego for a little family vacation. We did not get off to the best start. On our way down we decided to pull over for something to drink. Carina had been asleep for awhile and her cold had gotten worse. She was coughing quite a bit. As we pulled off the freeway we heard this noise and I turned around to see our poor baby covered in vomit! Yuck! Luckily we were right next to a supermarket. We pulled in and Dave earned good Daddy Points by cleaning up the car seat, Carina's clothes, and the car. We got in to San Diego late and spent the next couple of days just hanging out in the hotel room and going on a few quick walks. The hardest part about walks was trying to keep Carina from pulling her hat off and throwing it.
We did make it to the San Diego Zoo (Carina's favorite part was the waterfall in the grizzly bear exhibit). We also walked over to the Midway Museum where Carina was taken into custody and thrown in the brig for being too cute!
We stopped by the Cabrillo National Monument and Mission San Diego on the way out of town. Overall we had a relaxing trip. We hung out at the hotel a lot, but it was kind of nice to just relax and not have to worry about doing anything. Dave and I even managed to watch a movie every night after Carina went to sleep, so that was fun.
We hope you had a nice holiday and that you are excited about 2008!
