Fall Happenings

Well, the weather hasn't been very fall-like here in California, but we've been enjoying the extra warmth and sunshine.

I'm a little behind on the blog, so I'm going to catch you up...

Carina is taking a gymnastics class. I was just going to have her do it for one session (4 weeks), but she loves it. The staff is really great, and the "gym" is changed around each week to give the kids a new place to explore. During the class, they get to do "tricks" which is Carina's favorite part. For the open house, she got to play there with Hannah...

Steve came to visit from Philadelphia! Carina took a few days to warm up to him again, but she had a nice time hanging out with Uncle Steve.

We go to San Luis Obispo for Cal Poly's Homecoming every year. This year we paid tribute to a very special friend. My friend, Aubrey, who I have known since I twirled in the Westernettes long ago, also twirled with me my senior year at Cal Poly. We had a great time and stayed in touch after I left Cal Poly. She passed away from breast cancer the Monday before homecoming. I had been able to visit with her twice in the weeks before she died, but her loss was still such a shock. To honor her, I made (with Amy's help) almost 200 pink ribbons for all of the Cal Poly Band and Alumni Band to wear. When the band stepped off for the game, it was a sight to see so many pink ribbons....

Carina had a great time the whole weekend (which was nice after last year when she was sick). However, she was not a huge fan of the loud music.

She did, however, have a blast causing trouble with her best little friend, Hannah. I ordered them some "Treble Maker" shirts for the weekend, and they definitely lived up to them!

Carina liked watching Dave conduct the alumni and pretended to be a conductor too. She also had a green and gold pom pom that she waved as she yelled, "Go Cow Polly!"

The girls....me, Carina, Hannah, and Amy.

On Sunday morning we went to brunch in SLO. Carina had fun eating pancakes and playing with all of the other "Band Girls" - five total little ones, all girls, all "band babies".

We went to see Disney on Ice: Princess Classics. Our daycare provider, Michele, got us the tickets for Carina's two-year anniversary with her. So nice! We went with another daycare friend. I thought the girls would have trouble paying attention to two hours of a show, but no....

Carina had so much fun! Dave and I also had a good time...watching her react to the show!

Well, tomorrow is Halloween. Wonder what Carina is going to dress up as? Check back soon for a photo of her cuteness!

Heather,
Carina is adorable! Don't you just love her independance? Mason definately had his say this year on his costume!

I am sorry about Aubrey. So young to have died of breast cancer. A reminder for all of us to do self-exams and get mamograms.
